Celebration event a success
On Friday, October 3, the Faculty Association hosted a celebratory event for faculty members who achieved tenure and promotion in the past year. This event was developed through the Member Engagement Committee, chaired by Elena Pnevmonidou.
The event had a twofold purpose: To celebrate our members’ individual achievement of having reached a pivotal milestone in their careers and to give them an opportunity to situate their own success within a broader context by meeting other colleagues whose paths on campus they might not otherwise have an opportunity to cross.
This past year, 53 members received tenure, were promoted to the rank of Associate, Full Professor or Teaching Professor, or were promoted to a higher rank of librarianship. This figure speaks to the significant renewal our university has undergone in recent years as well as to the impressive range and diversity of research being done at UVic.
In hosting this event, the Faculty Association celebrated our members’ personal successes and recognized the contribution we all make to UVic’s growing international reputation as a centre of excellence for both research and teaching.
Congratulations to our members who were tenured or promoted last year!
